Gilded in Gold: Black Excellence Awards

Homecoming 2025 was definitely one for the books. As part of Southeastern’s Centennial celebration, the SLU African American Alumni Chapter hosted an unforgettable evening that shimmered with pride, purpose, and community spirit.

The Gilded in Gold: Celebrating Black Excellence Homecoming Mixer brought together alumni, students, and friends at the Alumni Center for an elegant night of music, laughter, and connection. Guests enjoyed delicious bites from local caterers, handcrafted cocktails, and an atmosphere filled with joy and legacy—all in support to uplift the next generation of Black excellence.

The evening also honored outstanding alumni and leaders whose impact continues to shine across industries and communities. Awards such as the Sankofa Black Excellence Award, Pinnacle Trailblazer Award, and Nakia “Boog” Merrill Philanthropy Award recognized those who exemplify leadership, service, generosity, and resilience. From seasoned alumni to emerging change-makers, each honoree embodied the spirit of Southeastern’s past, present, and future.
